I think what you see in the photos are great big silver studs all over the chest (Dou), both front and back, as seen in the photos.
This gives the iron Dou extra strength ;
Lots of good quality Kozane work throughout and the helmet is nice too.
Wonderful sleeves with large deep iron work on the decorations which also protect the wearer better.
This Japanese Armor is #139 and is USD $8,800 and was made circa 1670 to 1720.
